It is important to know that Legacy is a dedicated pet crematorium. This means that we do not dispose of any additional general or hazardous waste. Communal cremation means that your pet will be cremated together with other pets and that there is no way that you can receive your pet’s cremated remains back. These communal cremated remains are not permitted to be buried on our property as they are considered by the authorities to be waste which must be disposed of at a compliant landfill site.
Cremation and Return of Ashes
Our premium and increasingly requested service offering is the cremation with return of cremated remains option, where the pet’s body will be cremated in its own individual compartment. Sometimes pets have a unique place where they were particularly happy such as a special place in the garden, the beach or a park where they went for walks. Sprinkling the cremated remains at a special place often helps families to make peace with the loss, knowing that their pet’s remains have been laid to rest in their favourite place. Should you choose to have your pet’s remains returned to you, please be sure to inform your veterinarian. We have very specific systems in place with each veterinary hospital in order to ensure that your pet is distinctly identifiable. You can rest assured that the cremated remains that you receive will be those of your pet.
Unless specified otherwise, they will be returned to you in an attractive mahogany wood casket with a brass clip and inscription of your pet’s name. Should you require us to collect your pet on it’s own and return your pet’s cremated remains within 48 hours, this can be arranged by calling our office. An extra charge is applicable.
At Legacy Pet Crematorium we have an open door policy. If you would like to be at our premises when your pet gets cremated, this can be arranged by contacting our office to make an appointment. We have a private room situated in the tranquil memorial park where you will be able to sit and wait while your pet is cremated individually at the nearby cremation facility. You will then be able to take your pet’s cremated remains home with you.
Legacy is now pleased to offer a private transport and horse cremation service to ensure a dignified end for your beloved equine friend. We have very specific systems in place in order to guarantee that your horse is distinctly identifiable – so that you can rest assured that the cremated remains that you receive will be the remains of your horse and your horse only.
We will gladly collect your horse from the stables. You will be required to call our offices in order to schedule a suitable time for collection as well as to make an appointment should you desire to be present at the time of cremation.
The cremated remains will be returned to you in an attractive mahogany wood casket with a brass clip and inscription of the horses’ name. This will happen within a week of the date of collection of the body. Other urn options are also available at our offices or on our website.
