Legacy is a dedicated pet crematorium meaning that we do not dispose of any additional general or hazardous waste. Communal cremation means that your pet will be cremated together with other pets and therefore you will not be able to receive your pet’s ashes back after the cremation. These communal cremated remains are not permitted to be buried on our property and are therefore sent to a licenced disposal facility.
Cremation and Return of Ashes
Our premium service offering is the Return of Ashes cremation option, where the pet’s body will be cremated in an individual compartment. Sometimes pets have a unique place where they were particularly happy such as a special place in the garden, the beach, or a park where they went for walks. Sprinkling the cremated remains at a special place often helps families to make peace with the loss, knowing that their pet’s remains have been laid to rest in their favourite place. Should you choose to have your pet’s remains returned to you, please be sure to inform your veterinarian. We have very specific systems in place with each veterinary hospital in order to ensure that your pet is distinctly identifiable. You can rest assured that the cremated remains that you receive will be those of your pet, along with the urn or casket that you have chosen. We also offer home collections with the return of ashes to you within 48 hours. This can be arranged by calling our office, where an extra charge is applicable.
We have an open-door policy at Legacy Pet Crematorium. We welcome you to call our offices and make an appointment should you wish to be at our premises when your pet is cremated. In Kya Sands we have a private room situated in our tranquil memorial park where you will be able to wait while your pet is cremated and leave with their ashes in your chosen urn or casket.
Legacy offers a private transport and whole horse cremation service to ensure a dignified end for your beloved equine friend. We have very specific systems in place in order to guarantee that your horse is distinctly identifiable – so that you can rest assured that the cremated remains that you receive will be the remains of your horse and your horse only.
We will gladly collect your horse from your stables, home or veterinarian. You will be required to call our offices in order to schedule a suitable time for collection as well as to make an appointment should you desire to be present at the time of cremation.
The cremated remains will be returned to you in an attractive mahogany wood casket with a brass clip and inscription of the horses’ name. This will happen within a week of the date of collection of the body. Other urn options are also available at our offices or on our website.
